Chinese Food & Games

Good morning all-

Just wanted to send a quick update since it's been a few days.
We continue to reflect on and praise God for the amazing community He has blessed us with. We don't feel worthy of your love & support, but are so thankful to have it. It is AMAZING how well we have been served and cared for as an entire family over the past couple weeks.

Kaitlin's body is healing. She's in less pain overall and is starting to work harder and harder to regain independence. She has quite a bit of physical therapy scheduled for this week and has been spending 2 hours in her wheelchair each day. I've personally been blown away by how quickly she's taken to survival mode at Craig. She knows what to ask for, what she needs & when she needs it, and is catching on to the routine very quickly. They already love her there & see (just as we all do) the great potential & drive that she has to fight through her pain and recover from her accident. She had a blood transfusion a few days ago, which was painful and freaked her out a little bit-she keeps saying, "I have someone else's blood in my body"...but we are so grateful for that blood that is helping Kait get better! I never thought I'd say I was thankful for blood....but here we are together on this strange journey. Have faith that she is fighting, and that she is healing.

Last night was the best night I can remember in a long time-even before the accident. The siblings (Megan, Kait, John, Peter, Daniel & I) all got together at the hospital to eat Chinese food and play games. We watched the tail end of the Broncos game (Kaitlin was so pumped that they won!) and ate around her bed together on plastic plates & stolen furniture (only temporarily stolen, don't worry). It felt so good to all be together laughing & enjoying the rainy evening. After dinner we got Kait into her wheelchair and went over to one of the TV rooms that they have. We played catch phrase (my stomach hurt from laughing so hard) and cards & loved every second of it. In those 4 hours that we were all together, life felt normal and the world felt right. This morning as we begin a new week of our new reality, we are immensely grateful for last night, and are beautifully caught up in the hope that there are many more "sibling nights" to come. We are a blessed family.

Thank you for taking the time to read & for your prayers. Keep them coming! As we continue to express-we covet your prayers for walking legs & a FULL recovery.

Kaitlin has been listening to Galatians as she falls asleep at night, so I thought it appropriate to end with this: "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)

We love you!
Carolyn

  1. I am so thankful you all had a fun night :)

I continue to pray for Kait. God is pro-healing and I fully believe a miracle is happening. NOW. I don't know what it looks like necessarily, but I have faith that God is moving mountains through the open hands of John and Kait.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE.
