Joy in the Pain 9/3

Good evening-

A brief update on our Kaitlin for this evening....
We are going to be going into a bit more detail than we have in the last few posts on purpose. We covet your intentional and specific prayers and believe with all sincerity that our God will honor them. He is a God who hears prayers and listens to them. Even better-he answers them in His perfect way. We have great hope.

Kait had a hard day recovering from surgery. She is in an tremendous amount of pain in her neck and shoulders. She does have a morphine drip that allows her to regulate her pain meds, but even this does not alleviate what she is feeling. Tomorrow she'll have a back brace that will be put on so they can turn her and sit her up in bed. Right now the most painful thing she is having to do is take deep breaths to prevent developing hospital pneumonia. She is working very hard and truly is a fighter...we are seeing this more with each day that passes. We are confident that tomorrow will be better! The family continues to be absolutely overwhelmed and humbled beyond expression by the generosity, kind words and offers to help.

KAITLIN CANNOT HAVE VISITORS AT THIS TIME. This is not to keep people out, it is to keep Kaitlin safe. We are protecting her by asking that you please respect our families knowledge of her condition. We realize this is next to impossible for many...this is truly the best way you can love Kaitlin right now. Pray on your knees each day that God will grant her and us mercy-this is in all actuality the ONLY thing that you can do to help today. A verse that has been speaking into John's life the past couple days that he wanted me to share with y'all is Habakkuk 3:17-18. It says, "Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation."

Thank you seems like a broken record...but it is said from the bottom of our hearts.

Love,
Carolyn
